Charge Grater 4 City Bike - 2016
Save $730.00 (45%) $900.00 MSRP $1,630.00
The Charge Grater 4 is built around a 6061 butted aluminum frame that's fun, fast, durable, and lightweight--so it's fun to ride and won't weigh you down, plus aluminum is corrosion resistant, so it can laugh off a little rain or winter weather. It's outfitted with fender and rack mounts, and has clearance for nice, big tires. Custom disc tabs at the rear drop out help stiffen up the rear end for optimal braking performance. Up front, the Grater 4 features a straight blade carbon fiber fork to help smooth out road chatter and keep the gram count low. A reinforced disc tab on the left fork leg helps keep brake chatter to a minimum.
Component-wise, the Grater 4 features smart, sensible choices that combine practicality with the latest tech. A 1x11 drivetrain with hydraulic disc brakes means that you always have efficient, easy to use gearing, with brakes that will bring you to a stop in any weather conditions. Shifting duties are handled by a SRAM 1x11 system, which gives you a single 40T chainring upfront, coupled with a SRAM 11-speed rear derailleur with an 11-36 cassette. So what does that all mean? It means you have a huge spread of gears to get you and your cargo over any hill in your path, but without the added complexity of using two chainrings and a front derailleur. Shimano hydraulic disc brakes are the best in the business, and provide consistent, powerful, and easily controlled stopping power.
Rounding out the package are some excellent components from Charge. The wheels are built around a set of Charge Disc hubs, laced to a set of WTB SX19 doublewall rims, all wrapped up in Continental City Ride II 700x32 tires for plenty of cushion and traction. Charge is well-known for their excellent line saddles, and they've chosen the endurance-minded Spoon model here for plenty of support and comfort. Build kit (seatpost/stem/bars) is also supplied by Charge, with some durable and great looking alloy components.
