Barton Creek Greenbelt
Description: The Barton Creek Greenbelt is 809 acres of natural landscape used for outdoor recreation in South Austin. It features over seven miles of land used for biking, hiking and swimming. There are even some areas used for rock climbing.
Difficulty: All levels.
Location: The Barton Creek Greenbelt begins at Zilker Park and ends at the Lost Creek Subdivision, at a place nicknamed the "Hill of Life."
Pace Bend Park
Description: Close in proximity to Muleshoe, the conditions are fairly similar, but there is more elevation change, more interesting downhill sections and more trail variance.
Location: Take TX 71 west, past 620, to RM 2322, which becomes Pace Bend Park Road. Follow that into the park.
Rocky Hill Ranch
Description: Rocky Hill is the best 45 minute trip that you can make from Austin. The main loop is about 16 miles total and you'll encounter a wide variety of trails, from the straightforward jeep trails to ledges, short climbs, twists through the trees, bunny hops over logs and more.
Location: Take Highway 71 east to Route 153. Follow 153 east about 2-3 miles to the entrance of Rocky Hill Ranch. Look for the old bike hanging from the gateposts.
