Shimano's raised the bar for road bike wheels again with its new WH-7900 C24 TL Dura-Ace tubeless carbon clincher wheelset. The name itself may be a mouthful, but the list of features is even more impressive. Shimano started with a streamlined alloy/carbon rim that's strong, lightweight and rigid, then incorporated carbon-reinforced spoke eyelets for increased durability, and elbowless, stainless steel butted and bladed straight pull spokes to make the wheel strong, yet resilient. Offset rim asymmetry and wide flange spacing produces excellent lateral rigidity, and bearing races treated with an ultra-smooth, Borozon finish reduce friction. Hubs feature cold-forged, machined aluminum shells and oversized 7075 alloy axles to further reduce weight. The rear wheel has a lightweight titanium freehub body that's 8-, 9- and 10-speed compatible.
