2013 Charge Mortar Pub Bike

You've probably never seen anything quite like this before. Neither had we and we love it. The Charge Mortar Pub Bike is one part freestyle BMX, one part hard tail 29er, and one part flat bar pub crawl road bike. It has to be the coolest damn single speed around.

It's a BMX bike. The Mortar has a 33 tooth one-piece BMX crank set. It's easy to pedal and so simple in design. BMX U-brakes supply the stopping power. Odyssey, a long time manufacturer of high quality BMX parts and accessories, provides the grips and a 13-tooth freewheel. Even the downtube and chainstays are made of cromoly; just like a BMX bike.

No wait, it's a 29er. The Mortar has a giant 29er profile thanks to Charge Shield rims and hubs. The larger diameter wheels create more wheel development, so you get where you are going faster, and with less effort. A Charge riser bar puts you in a comfortable, upright position like an all-mountain bike.

It's a road bike? Freedom Trekking-X tires have low rolling resistance on the pavement or sidewalks. The Charge steel frame absorbs unwanted road feedback and provides a stiff, but forgiving platform; just like a road bike.
