2013 Diamondback Steilacoom CCX Cyclocross Bike

Diamondback, situated in the heart of cross country, knows how to design, test, and produce an outstanding cyclocross bike. The CCX is no exception. Diamondback outfitted the CCX with a carbon fork for vibration dampening, mountain bike inspired 700x32 Kenda Small Block 8 tires for stability, traction and low rolling resistance, and a tried and true 46/36 chain ring combination to both climb and accelerate with ease. A Shimano Sora 9-speed drive train adds efficiency and hassle free shifting to the CCX. This bike is perfect for anyone looking for a quickly adaptable bike that can competently commute, take to the fire roads, or lead you down the road on a great Sunday ride.

Commute with the CCX: This bike has a great foundation for a commuter bike. Wider tires and sloping geometry for comfort, proper spacing and eyelets for full fenders, as well as cross top brake levers so you can maintain a confident, upright position. Other comfort features include Diamondback cork bar tape for extra support and vibration dampening, a WTB Volt saddle with a long, broad nose and an overall shape that accommodates moving forward or backward with ease.

Go on the road: Cyclocross bikes in general are appealing because they are so easily adaptable. The same is true for the CCX. While you can ride on the road without issue, try swapping out the Small Block Eight tires for something with less rolling resistance, like some Continental Ultra Gatorskins. The result will be a smooth ride, especially when you match them with the included low spoke count Equation CX wheels.

Discover Cyclocross: Cyclocross is a tremendous amount of fun and a real challenge. If you've never tried cross, the CCX can introduce you to a new love affair. Diamondback uses a BB30 bottom bracket for their FSA Gossamer crank, which results in a stiffer, better accelerating bike. The top tube has been shaped to allow for portaging or carrying the bike over any obstacle that you couldn't ride over otherwise. Tektro cantilever brakes were chosen to easily shed mud and grit which can build up during poor weather conditions.
