Remember when the first Flite Titanium came on the scene and shocked all of us by tipping the scales at an incredibly lightweight (at the time) 200g or so? A lot has happened in the world of saddle technology in the intervening years and much of the design focus has centered around paring weight without sacrificing too much in the way of comfort. The Selle San Marco Aspide Superleggera carbon saddle could be the poster boy for those efforts.The most lightweight saddle Selle San Marco has ever created, the Aspide Superleggera takes minimalism to a whole new level. Employing oval carbon rails bonded to an ultra-thin (yet strong) force-oriented braided, differential thickness carbon shell, and featuring a center cutout for comfort, the Aspide has a published weight of a remarkably featherweight 115g. What's even more remarkable is that some of the samples we've weighed come in closer to only 100g. Granted, you do have to sacrifice a bit of cushioning and rear end-supporting real estate to take advantage of this lightweight saddle, but if you care about speed, performance and having the sexiest-looking saddle money can buy, the Selle San Marco Aspide Superleggera is unquestionably worth it.
