Mirror is very well constructed. Tightens to stay in place. Over a 30 mile ride (varied roads) you may need to slightly adjust, about twice. I first was able to install it under the the hood of my SRAM levers; but after a few rides I decide to remove it as it was becoming a bit uncomfortable on longer rides. Now I have it on the top of the hood tightly secured by the velcro fastner provided. It actually feel better on my hand, no discomfort and I still access to both brake and shift lever. Mirror is large enough to see uncoming traffic. I use this mirror for both riding alone and small group rides.
Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
After going through four other mirrors that just proved to be unsuitable on my road bike, I tried this and it is just great. It easily fit my Ultegra brake hood, with no interference with working the brakes or shifting - plus it keeps the mirror up high were it is easy to see.
Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
Great miror because it's mirror is large enough to give you an excellent view of what is behind you. All it takes is a quick glance to see what's coming. If you are interested in road safety this is the mirror for you.
Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
I used this for several years on my old road bike with Ultegra components and was very happy with it. Last year I got a new bike with Dura-Ace and was disappointed to find that the mirror did not fit properly on the brake lever hood. The mirror bracket is just a little too wide and interfers with the brake lever movement. I have been looking for a good replacement since.
Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
All the people that bought this mirror and complain that it does not hold the adjustment - next time READ THE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS! You will find there that there is a lockring on the mirror stem that serves this purpose.
Installation was a snap, the velcro strap gives it a very solid mount, once adjusted you just turn the lockring and it's done.
Of course the mirror sticks out a little so you can see what is behind you, otherwise you could just only see yourself. And, of course it vibrates with the road, but then you're on a bike not in a car. Regardless of what mirror you have you should never trust it, so it is never a replacement for a head turn.
All in all it works great for what is intended.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
In my opinion this is the best road bike mirror because it makes it easy to see behind you (which is the main purpose after all). I got hit once by a car and my goal is never ever to get hit again, and I consider rear view mirrors essential for this purpose. I have not been able to find a better mirror for this purpose. This mirror sits high on the brake/shifter and is easy to see behind you. It has a large field of view and does not jiggle or move. You don't have to readjust your eyes to see behind you either. Downsides are that it does interfere a little with the shifting but I can deal with that. Also the plastic tends to break if you let your bike fall down into that handle. I have had three of these already and am now buying another.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
I had intended to use this mirror on my rode bike, but every little jolt and the mirror moves out of adjustment everytime. I have tried putting electrical tape, and small pieces of rubber between the ball and socket to get it to hold tight. I even slightly roughed up the ball and socket inside to try and get it to hold. There is no way to tighten the ball very tight in the socket without padding it with something. Another gentleman in my riding group has the same issue with the mirror.
Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
This mirror looks like a fairly cheapo plastic jobby but I've had two of them(both stolen) and they've held up remarkably well to all sorts of abuse(dropped bike, clipping a car, and worst: putting in my car trunk on the mirror side). It's lasted through multiple all-season rides and remained scratch free and clear.
As long as it's adjusted correctly, I find it to be invaluable for city riding as it allows me to check my rear/blind spot without having to turn my head back(especially useful during the winter with a balaclava) as looking back ='s greater possibility of being doored, swiped, etc.
The adjustment mechanism *is* really tricky and seems to be more art than science. It's almost like you have tighten the mirror to the attachment/flex point like a screw and then try to adjust so that it stays at the angle you prefer. But I did have some difficulty at first.
All in all recommended, but I'm probably just going to fashion a mirror myself using a coat hanger and a found pocket sized mirror as I don't feel like spending another 20 bucks.
Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
The adjustable mirror head does not bend far enough back so you cannot see directly behind you.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
I found the mirror does no work with well with Ultegra brifters. On the left side, its wrapping inhibits the full motion of the lever to downshift the crank. It was a nuisance that led me to dremel off a small piece of plastic.
The biggest complaint I have is the mirror pivot is easily jostled, requiring almost daily readjustment.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
Rode from Colo Spgs to Stuart,Fl, 2406 miles with no problems.Used another brand before I left and it blew apart on a downhill. This one I reached 43 mph and it held firm. You do have to adjust it occasionally, but no big deal.I used black electrial tape and then used their strap, to give it more stablility.I would not go on a long trip without it.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
Easy to install, good visibility. BUT...I need to constantly re-adjust it's positioning. It does not stay in place, and when I look down to see what's behind me I have to move it every time! I've finally taken it off my bike as it's more of a distraction than a help.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
I am on my 3rd mirror, I love the product, but it is easily broken at the point it attaches to the handle bar. This sould be made of lighweight metal to avoid breakage.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
Being the only apparent alternative, this mirror could be improved in a number of ways, the first is replaceable parts for the inevitable breakage from a strike or fall. You'll be annoyed to find out that once broken, you're out of luck and need to purchase the entire assembly. The size is certainly adequate, but as others have stated, very flimsy in the mounting interface.

I like it better mounted on the drop bar on the road handlebars. It's easier to shift with them in that position.Better than Rhode Gear.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
Overall I like this mirror and I'm not sure if a better solution exists for mounting a non-permanent mirror on a road bike. It does vibrate on rough pavement, but it still works well enough to see what's behind you. Until something better comes along, I will continue to use this. I'm not disappointed with this product.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
THIS MIRROR GIVES EXCELLENT REAR VISIBILITY IF ADJUSTED CORRECTLY, HOWEVER IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP ADJUSTED AT THE CORRECT VIEWING ANGLE. THE SECURING MECHANISM IS A RUBBERIZED NUT ON A RUBBERIZED THREADED ROD. IF THIS SOUNDS LIKE IT WOULD BE DIFFICULT TO ADJUST CORRECTLY YOU ARE RIGHT. IF THEY USED THE TRADITIONAL BALL AND SOCKED FOR ADJUSTMENT THIS PRODUCT WOULD BE EXCELLENT. THE SECURING METHOD FOR THE BRAKE LEVER HOOD WORKS VERY WELL. THE BIG FLAW IS ITS INABILITY TO KEEP ITS ADJUSTMENT, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE DESIGNER OF THIS PRODUCT NEVER USED IT FOR MORE THAN THIRTY MINUTES,IF HE/SHE HAD THEY WOULD HAVE BROKEN THE MOULDS AND GONE BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD!

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
This mirror works very well. Visibility is excellent. I don't strain my eyes. I can see where cars are behind me unlike wide angle mirrors.
The only problem is that I have 3 mirrors with broken mounts. If they sold spare mounting kits, this would be an excellent product.
The bar end mount does not have this problem.

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
Had numerous mirrors over the years - brake, helment, glasses, and this mirror is the best. Wide surface lets you see more of the road and longer distances at a glance. Ajusts easily but firm enough that it holds in place over bumps. Does not interfere with my brake shifters.

Things get blurry except on very smooth roads
but if you don't like helmet mirrors you don't have much choice.

This mirror works well on an old road bike with shifters on the down tube, but I've found that it interferes with shifting on new systems that integrate the shifters with the brake levers. [...]

Comments about BLACKBURN Blackburn Road Mirror:
This product shakes at moderate to high speeds (on my decent road bike K2 mach 1.0 which I got at Performance) and is therefore rendered useless because you can't see what's coming. Also, it moves out of position easily if it gets bumped in storage or during use so I was constantly readjusting this mirror and am very dissatisfied with the product. Caveat Emptor, Buyer Beware.
