Comments about Iron Horse 2006 Iron Horse Triumph Sport Road Bike:

This was my first road bike. Had always road MTB.
Got it for x-mas 2 years ago as a starter till I decided if I wanted to switch to road riding. That was 4800 miles ago, and still going strong! Never had a problem w/the tubes or tires. Just recently upgraded seat and my tires. Did 125 mi ride within first year and was very comfy, as much as you can doing 125 in 1 day! Still looks new. easy to maintain and work on. Did lack bottle holders and replaced handlebar tape within first 6 mo. just to jazz up a little, not from wear. Especially enjoy passing the people and their 1000+$ bikes who have looked down their noses at my baby! It's weight also allowes me to commute and carry my bike right up into the surgical dept. I work in. Finally all the money my hubby saved on the bike allows me to spend on gear and extras!

Comments about Iron Horse 2006 Iron Horse Triumph Sport Road Bike:

First, Note that i gave this bike 5 stars not because the bike is "perfect" but because for the money it is excellent and you really couldn't do any better.

I just got into road biking and was looking for an entry level bike. [...] this was the best deal around. i didn't know what to expect, however have been increasingly impressed with the bike. This is a bike that won't make other cyclists jealous but you can make them look foolish by out-riding their thousand dollar+ bike with your trusty[...] Iron Horse.
Very light weight, sturdy construction and great "feel." i have gone on long rides and have been pleasantly surprised with the ease and comfort that this bike offers.

BUY THIS BIKE IF YOU ARE JUST STARTING OUT AND ARE NOT LOADED!!!!

good bike for the money
By Likes to RideVerified Reviewer from Tulsa, OK on 9/21/2006
Pros:
Fast, Good components, Lightweight, Looks good
Cons:
Bad tubes
Best Uses:
Climbing, Commuting, Serious Racing or Training

Comments about Iron Horse 2006 Iron Horse Triumph Sport Road Bike:

I bought this bike for my wife because it had a three ring crank so she could go up hills better.
Overall, it is an excellent entry level bike. Much lighter in weight than her previous bike and with the carbon fiber fork to absorb shock, I think you will like this bike for what you spend.
However, I do agree with another reviewer. Get rid of the tubes that it comes with, they leaked or blew out on her first long ride (80 miles). I would even suggest changing the 700x25 tires it comes with and putting on better, thinner 700x23 profile tires for more speed and durability. Again, this is a good, lightweight bike for the money.

I’m new to serious cycling, so take my opinion for what it’s worth.

I’m just getting into road biking and set a goal to complete a 150 mile, two day ride in August. I didn’t want to blow a fortune on getting into the sport to change my mind later on, but my old steel 10-speed was shot from age and lack of use/maintenance. My LBS wanted a lot for entry level road bikes, so off to the internet I go. This bike has great components for the price and is easily less than half the weight of my old bike. Assembly wasn’t hard, but no directions are provided and you need allen wrenches for almost all screws. Someone needs to know what they are doing for the final adjustments. My bike expert friend did my final adjustments. All the expert bikers that have seen the bike think that it is a great value.

I've only got about 50 miles on the bike. I have a couple things I’d change and add to start. Change out the clip pedals for clip-less. Most road bike don’t even come with pedals to start out with so I’m not sure this is much of a point. Add a water bottle cage.

If you are looking for something better than the [...] Huffy special 10 speed and don’t feel good about going to the LBS for $1,000 on an entry level bike, [...]

Solid ride, great value
By FrostyVerified Reviewer from Providence, RI on 5/29/2006
Pros:
Aerodynamic, Fast, Sturdy
Cons:
Too Heavy
Best Uses:
Commuting, Serious Racing or Training, Sprinting

Comments about Iron Horse 2006 Iron Horse Triumph Sport Road Bike:

This is a solid bike for the value. I bought it for road training and touring when there's no time to get to a trail, and it fits like a glove. Very little adjustment/acclimation time from the MTB, which could be a pro or a con depending on the rider background. The wheelsets and a few components are on the heavy side, but these can all be upgraded as you advance. Before assembling though, toss the stock tubes. Both lasted about two weeks on even roads, no problems after switching. Beyond that, the verdict: Perfect starter road bike!
