You get a lot of bike for the money. I've had it for over a month now. I've done three tri sprints and a metric century and no real problems. I did have to take it in to get the front and rear derailers adjusted. They were both a little out of alignment, which was causing skipping and the chain to rub against the derailer in some gears. But after this small fix (fixed for free), no real issues. Will consider the same brand for my next one.

I got this bike from a woman who didn't want to bike after just one summer of biking. I took it to a bike store due to some comfort issues with the seat.- Turned out that the reach was really long causing my seat to be uncomfortable.. probably what happened to the woman I bought it from. Great bike outside of that. I was able to do well in a 100k bike ride with a better than before average speed!

This bike is a great entry level bike. The only downside to this bike are the rims that come with it. As stated previously, I went through approximately 5-6 spoke replacements within a month. I replaced the rims with the Mavic Aksium rims, which have been great. I replaced the saddle with a Selle San Marco Aspide. The bike is great now with no malfunctions of the rims or spokes.

I tried every frame I could find in San Diego, and this was the last frame I tried. I took it for a 10 minute ride and bought it immediately.I'm a BIG guy (~200), it holds my weight well.My point being, I love this bike, and how it feels.Certainly, when buying your first road bike, you should try a Scattante R330 frame out.The frame is light, drive train components are all Shimano-Sora, and I've found that Sora at the novice level is really all you need. Shifting is smooth and buttery and precise. The bike comes with 2 sets of brake levers, a HUGE advantage to a novice. You'll find Langster style brakes right where you had them on your mountain bike/cruiser as well as the brakes on the integrated Sora shifter/brake levers. This means in city traffic you have a much more accessible braking system when you want to be upright and visible.Besides this, the bike is dead sexy, comfortable, precise, agile, and just a blast to ride. I couldn't be happier right now.For the money, you're not going to find a better bike at retail prices. [...] it ended up being sub-500, and I looked at EVERY frame/bike in the 08-09' series.. you're not going to find a bike with better features or components unless you go above 800. (and then you should look at the R-560 Scattante with a Shimano 105 Drive train)So if you're thinking about the first road bike, do what I did and try every frame up to 900 bucks, but don't forget the R-330! I'm glad I didn't.

Overall it's a great deal. Like most people, I didn't want to dump my life's savings into a new sport which I had no experience in. This bike has everything a person with a small budget wants. I upgraded the petals, which are 10x better than those stock platforms. However, the rear wheel gave out rather quickly. Within 75 miles of flat road, the spokes on the back rim began to break. I probably spend enough money fixing broken spokes enough to buy a new rim, which I recently did. [...]

Comments about SCATTANTE Scattante R-330 Road Bike:
I had this bike for a month before I ran across a crack on the ground. The front rims was done and cannot be trued. The geometry is pretty comfortable comparing to a Giant TCR. Definitely a bike you can grow with and put some work into, but I would rather put in a little extra $$ to get something better from Giant or Cannondale.

Comments about SCATTANTE Scattante R-330 Road Bike:
I love this bike. This is my main mode of transportation around town year long rain or shine. This bike has held up to all the pot holes, road sludge, and other abuses I have put it through; I ride hard and fast. I consider this bike to be fairly light especially for the price, but i am around 230lbs. Counting grams is lost on me for my body type and my purpose. This is the best bike i have ever owned hands down.
I had a string of rear wheel broken spokes averaging one a week for a month and a half. This was gruesome to say the least. I don't know if that was my shop's fault or if that was the quality of spokes they send or if that was the wheel build.
Regardless of that gripe, this bike a is a treat to ride and if your thinking about getting it hesitate no further.
