Boulder to Estes Park back to Boulder - Road
Description: One of the classic rides of the Boulder area - about 100-115 miles
Difficulty: Intermediate
Location: N to Carter Lake and then head W into the mountains onto Big Thompson Canyon for 20 miles of climbing before arriving in Estes Park. Out of Estes Park take Highway 72 to Ward or Nederland and head E downhill for about 15 miles back to Boulder
Boulder to Ward back to Boulder - Road
Description: This ride can be made as long as you like - at it’s longest it is about 55 miles
Difficulty: Intermediate
Location: N on Hwy 36 for 5 miles, left on Left Hand Canyon for 5 miles, left across bridge towards Ward, climb 15-17 miles (last 2 miles at a 10% grade), turn around and scream downhill until Lee Hill Rd, turn right and ride to Olde Stage Rd and into Boulder.
Sourdough Trail - MTB
Description: Technical with lots of rocks - 6 miles one way
Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate
Location: On the Peak to Peak Highway (Hwy 72) north of Nederland on Rainbow Lakes Road
We recommend that you confirm trail openings and locations with local resources.
AJ’s Ride Tip: Use Stan’s Sealant in mountain bikes tubes. I used it for a season in my 29er and never got a flat (there are a lot of goat head thorns in Colorado)!
