Meet the Manager
Store Manager Chris hails from the San Francisco Bay Area and has worked for Performance since 2011. Chris started cycling as a young kid, riding his bike to school and mountain biking in the Santa Cruz mountains. Although he prefers mountain biking, he closely follows pro-tour road racing and the local road scene as well. When he’s not helping customers or out riding, Chris enjoys spending time with his family and beach days with his dog.

Both rides leave from Performance Bicycle Bonita.
Mayor Taylor casual road ride: Saturdays at 9:00am
Casual MTB ride: Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:00pm

Chula Vista J Street Area Trails - MTB
Description: One of San Diego’s best kept secrets. Navigation is difficult as many of the trails incorporate streets and roads as part of the trail network - find a local to ride with in order to prevent getting lost
Difficulty: All Levels
Location: In the east Chula Vista area between E Street/Bonita Road and Telegraph Canyon/L Street. They extend into the Sweetwater and Otay areas

Mission Trails - MTB
Description: One of the largest day use areas - the network of trails allows for one to four hours riding over varied terrain
Difficulty: All Levels
Location: The trail has several entrances. The most accessible is located off of the 52 freeway and Mission Gorge Rd

Noble Canyon - MTB
Description: One of San Diego county’s most recognized mountain bike rides. The trail twists and turns through the trees. Excellent single track. Remote location – only ride with a partner
Difficulty: Advanced
Location: Begins in East County off highway 8. You have to drive about one hour to get to the trail head.

We recommend that you confirm trail openings and locations with local resources.

Spin Doctor Mechanic
Spin Doctor Roger hails from Chula Vista and he has worked for Performance since 2004. Roger started working on his own bikes as a kid, and says that the most gratifying repair he’s done as a professional mechanic was restoring an original Tom Richey mountain bike from the 80s. He’s a mountain biker himself and when he’s not working on bikes, Roger enjoys getting out on the local trails.
