McAllister Park
Description: Park facilities include five miles of asphalt trails and more than 10 miles of unpaved natural bicycle and cross-country trails.
Difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate
Location: 13102 Jones-Maltsberger
OP Schnabel
Description: OP Schnabel has a variety of trails, from flat smooth trails to downhills, climbs, shaded forest and even jumps. There is a large BMX area with 4-foot high dirt jumps, some even have obstacles like old refrigerators in the middle of the jump. The park is located along a river and crosses over water in several areas. Trails can be rocky in areas and muddy after a rain.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Location: Take I-35 south to 1604. Take 1604 west (right) down to Bandera Road. Take Bandera east to the entrance of the park. If I remember correctly, there is a huge "Grass" billboard right at the entrance.
Flat Rock Ranch
Description: Long, serious climbs and screaming, blistering downhills, all connected by some expertly designed and maintained single-track.
Difficulty: Advanced
Location: Comfort, Texas
Government Canyon
Description: This park has a network of trails ranging from 3-5 miles per trail. Every trail head has a large topo map charting every trail in the park. Some of the trails are for hikers only and is clearly marked on the maps. The terrain varies from canopy-covered rolling trails to pretty tough climbs.
Difficulty: Beginner to Advanced
