Devinci Troy XP 27.5" Mountain Bike - 2014Every so often a newcomer makes you stand up and take notice. The 2014 Devinci Troy XP 27.5" mountain bike is the first 650b enduro bike to feature Dave Weagle's Split-Pivot technology and takes full advantage of a burly mix of DH and XC components to deliver one heck of a ride. It features Rock Shox suspension, a SRAM X7 components, and great parts from industry giants like Easton, Schwalbe, Selle Italia and more.
Devinci has been designing ground breaking bikes from their research and development division, inspired by the automotive and aerospace industries, for over twenty five years. Their engineers use state-of-the-art modeling and analysis software to submit new bikes to virtual testing. No Devinci bike will see the light of day until it passes this scientific rigor. If the bike is competent enough to make it to a production sample, it is then face to face with what Devinci calls, "the test bench". The test bench allows them to quantify their bikes smash-resistance, solidity, and rigidity. If it fails -- it will never say Devinci.
About the Frame: Their mountain bike program takes total advantage of their unparalleled research and development experience. The top-of-the line tube technology is adapted to the Optimum G04 aluminum, which offers the ultimate in acceleration, power transfer, control and stability. Thanks to super light tubing made of a special blend of 6066-T6 aluminum combined with state-of-the-art triple butting, high pressure hydroforming and a tapered CNC -machined headtube, this special alloy means the frames made from the Optimum G4 tube set offer superior durability, incredible stiffness and a strength-to weight ratio that is above the industry standards.
About Split Pivot: The Devinci Troy XP uses Dave Weagle's patented Split-Pivot suspension system, where traction, efficiency, maneuverability, and frame stiffness are important factors on singletrack or wide open trail. Split-Pivot offers true performance advantages over other designs by separating acceleration forces from braking forces. This reduces excess suspension compression due to acceleration forces, and at the same time reduces excess compression due to braking forces. The result is an incredible efficiency of power transmission.
About the Suspension: After taking a few years off, the Rock Shox Pike fork comes back to the RockShox lineup as the ultimate trail fork. Your trail could be a silky smooth ribbon of singletrack, or a rock-infested goat trail in the Alps, but the Pike is ready when you call on it. The positive and negative Solo Air spring chambers are simultaneously filled to equal air pressures through a single Schrader valve, simplifying suspension setup while retaining a light weight and plush ride quality. The Pike chews up climbs with incredible efficiency and control which absorb any bumps along the way. The rear Monarch RT shock rebound can be custom tuned even while in-use on the trail.
About the Components: A SRAM X7 drivetrain, which features their patented Exact Actuation 1:1 shifting, and a SRAM S1000 crankset with a forgiving 36/22 ring configuration offers ample options for finding the right climbing or descending cadence. Avid Elixir 3 hydraulic brakes with 180/160 rotors. Jalco XM420 650b wheels with beefy Schwalbe Hans Dampf tires feature front and rear thru-axle designs for the greatest amount of support and durability.
