The 2015 Diamondback Century Sport Disc is designed for the long distance group rider, charity rider, Gran Fondo enthusiast, or anyone who just wants a serious road bike that doesn't push your body to the limits like a full-on race bike. It packs the added bonus of being equipped with disc brakes, giving you the best stopping power available on two wheels.
The Century Disc is made from Diamondback's outstanding 6061-T6 alloy, making it stiff, lightweight, and absolutely durable. The geometry of this bike is all about efficiency and endurance, and utilizes Diamondback's proprietary Enhanced Performance Geometry. It has the same performance characteristics as their road race bikes, thanks to its stiff, lightweight construction, and BB386 bottom bracket shell, but with a taller headtube and more relaxed fell that's easier on the back and neck. The carbon fiber disc fork helps soak up road chatter, and is super stiff to give you increased confidence to dive into turns.

Component wise, the bike is outfitted with Shimano's outstanding 105 and Ultegra components. Descended from the pro-level Dura-Ace group, the 105 shifters and front derailleur, and the ultra-premium Ultegra rear derailleur, deliver incredible shifting performance that would be right at home at any level of racing, a fast group ride, or even just pushing yourself hard on a solo ride. But this bike also hides and extra secret surprise. This is no ordinary disc brake road bike. Stopping power is handled by TRP HYRD cable actuated hydraulic disc brakes that deliver the most powerful, and best controlled, braking performance on the market.

So, what's disc all about? Traditional road bikes stop using rim brakes, which can be a little iffy in wet weather, in descents, or on gravel roads. Disc brakes use a caliper that squeezes a metal rotor attached to the hub, much like a car, to give the rider more powerful stopping performance that isn't affected by weather. Hydraulic brakes have the added advantage of being more powerful, but also easier to control (modulated) than traditional cable-operated disc brakes. The results are amazing, and are set to revolutionize road riding.

Finishing off the build is a bevy of components from Diamondback, including an alloy stem, handlebar, and seatpost, and the exceptionally comfy DBR Performance road saddle. The bike rolls on the HED Flanders C2+ Disc road wheels, which deliver improvements in durability, stability and speed--plus an IS 6-bolt disc hub with a 160mm rotor in the front and a 140mm rotor in the back.
