Easton has upgraded their venerable EA90 SL road front wheel by dropping weight and increasing strength. Not only that, the EA90 SL is now tubeless ready out of the box. A completely re-designed EA90 aluminum rim features a category-leading 19.5mm internal rim width in a deeper and stiffer 27mm blunt shaped rim profile that borrows from the aerodynamic shape of Easton's renowned Fantom rim. Durable Sapim straight-pull spokes with standard, alloy nipples enhance durability and reduce the need for proprietary parts. Finally, these battle-tested wheels are centered on Easton's award-winning Echo hubs that are lightweight, tough, and roll super-smooth on sealed cartridge bearings. And as is the case with Easton's top-of-the-line wheels, the EA90 SL is completely hand-built and acoustically tuned for the ultimate in quality and reliability.

  • EA90 aluminum alloy rim is lightweight, stiff, and durable
  • Welded rim joint ensures rotating balance and strength

Easton EA90 SL Road Front Wheel (Black) (QR x 100mm) (700c)
Probably one of the last great aluminum rim-brake wheels, right up there with the HED Ardennes Plus. I'm replacing a FLO 30, there is no comparison in quality. I do wish the EA90 had bladed spokes but other than that it's perfect. Light, strong, aero-ish and a great value too.

Easton EA90 SL Road Front Wheel (Black) (QR x 100mm) (700c)
Received in timely fashion and packaged well. Unfortunately I had to very quick flats and was lucky not to have crashed. If you are going tubeless you may not have this issue because it will be hidden my the tubeless stem that is provided with the wheel. If you are using a tube, better watch out after you remove the tubeless stem. The stem hole has not been cleaned our of all burrs and sharp edges which will cut your tube stem like it did twice to me. Additionally, the Easton rim tape is nice however if flaked in any area it is another sharp object that will cut your tube. In the middle of nowhere, I had to use my car key to break off stem hole burrs and sharp edges and other rim tape sharp edges. Basically had to file it down somewhat smooth such as not to have another tube blow. I then used a rubber boot as double assurance. That worked and got me back to my car. This should never happen with a new wheel!
I did send a message to Performance however no replied has been received. I could send it back for a replacement but then might receive the same thing all over again. Now that I have fixed it at a cost of 2 tubes and a boot, its probably better that I just keep this one. This was a front wheel BTW so when I get the back shortly, you know what the first thing I am doing..yup, inspect what Easton did not inspect adequately.

I do like the rim and it rolls nicely and is light, just disappointed that I had to endure crap that should never have got out the door from Eaton. WE will see if the back wheel has same issue before I put a tire on it. If it does, its getting sent back.

With this caution, I do like the rims.
