Compass's Steilacoom tires are named after a famous cyclocross course near Seattle, but these tires are designed to perform well beyond just 'cross courses. On the road, even in hairpin corners, the tires handle amazingly because of the equally distributed rubber knobs. These knobs are big enough so they don't 'squirm' while railing corners on-road, they grip nicely off-road, and are far enough apart for mud to clear out. That being said, these features make this type of tire perfect for tackling grassy, muddy cyclocross courses or long gravel grinders.
