Saris's SuperClamp hitch rack just got that much better with the SuperClamp EX edition. The SuperClamp EX utilizes the dual shepherd's hooks on the front and rear wheels to securely fasten two bikes without any frame contact so your bike keeps its pristine condition. This hitch rack also has the ability to tilt away from the car, even with the rack fully loaded, for easy access to the trunk door of your vehicle. When the rack isn't in use, it folds up and out of the way.

The arms ratchet into place to simplify loading and unloading and work with any bike up to a 48" wheelbase. Additionally, the wheel trays can handle tires up to 4" wide. There's a two-pronged security for when you have to leave your bike and car — a rack-integrated cable lock with a locking pin in the hitch to protect both the bikes and rack. Even with all these incredibly handy features, SuperClamp EX weighs in significantly lighter than similar style racks on the market.

Features:
  • Carries 2 bikes (up to 60 lbs. each), or 4 bikes (total of 190 lb of bikes, 60 lb/bike in trays closest to vehicle; 35 lb/bike for second two trays)
  • Front and rear wheel hooks coupled with ratcheting wheel straps completely eliminate frame contact
  • Fits any bike with a wheelbase up to 48" - from kid's to adult-sized
  • Universal wheel trays fit tires up to 4" wide
  • Integrated locking cable secures bikes for when your grabbing a bite on your way home
  • Tilting feature allows access to rear of vehicle, even when fully loaded, and folds up when not in use
  • Security provided by rack integrated cable lock to lock bikes to rack plus locking pin to secure the hitch to the vehicle
  • Ratcheting arms pivot on case hardened brackets for superior strength
  • 2 Bike: Universal fit works with both 1-1/4" and 2" receiver hitches
  • 4 Bike: For use with 2" receiver hitches only
  • Bottle opener integrated into tilt handle

Saris SuperClamp EX Hitch Rack (Black) (2 Bikes) (1.25 & 2" Receiver)
We bought this bike rack to transport 2 ebikes (which each weigh 49 pounds) & have been using it to transport one or both bikes 4-5 days per week for a couple of months.
I like that there’s a lock on the bolt that fastens it to the hitch so we don’t worry about anyone with a wrench stealing the rack off the back of the car and I like that it comes with cables to lock the bikes to the rack.
The rack is fairly easy to use if you are flexible & can squat/bend down to strap the wheels down in the “wheel wells”. I also love that we don’t have to lift these heavy bikes very high to get them on/off the rack!
However—we immediately noticed the outer 2 “wheel wells” on the rack could easily be stolen when the rack is not in use, so we always run the cable locks through those pieces when the rack is not in use.
Secondly, the cables are about 6-8” too short to easily & securely lock the 2 ebikes to the rack. It always takes us a while to get the cables threaded through spokes & bike frames to find the shortest path. In fact, we are unable to go completely through the rear wheels & the frames — instead, we settle with grabbing a couple of spokes & the bike frame on each bike.
Lastly, within the 1st month of use, the piece on the end of left swinging arm came loose so that the ratcheting function was lost. I believe this happened because the sliding hooks knocked the end piece loose. I believe this is a design flaw. The swinging arms should have “stoppers” so the hooks don’t slide all the way to the end & bang into this “end cap” on the arm — or the “end caps” need to be attached more securely. (The ratchets on all the hooks & right arm work fine.)
