I moved up on my TREK Emonda, replacing a 30 tooth max rear cassette with a 40 tooth max rear cassette. This modification calls for a long cage rear derailleur. The GRX RD-RX812 is just exactly right for the task. Much happiness. Steep hills and stiff headwinds are no longer a problem. The weight penalty came out to about one half of a pound.

I used this to switch over my gravel bike from 2x11 (48-32 crank, 11-34 cassette) to a 1x11 with 11-46 cassette. Here's a little secret: the GRX RD-RX812 works just fine with a 11-46 cassette, no goat link or cage mod required, as long as you get the chain length and B-screw adjustment right.
