With so many different wheel sizes and frame geometries out there, it can be tough to figure out which one is right for you. Performance has taken the guess work out of buying a mountain bike with our Right Fit program.
Right Fit matches up the rider with the right wheel size based on frame size. For Right Fit bikes, sizes XS-SM will be available only with 27.5" wheels. Sizes M-XL will only be available with 29" wheels.

GT's iconic Triple Triangle design adds strength and resilience to the frame without adding excess weight. The Backwoods frame is made from 6061 aluminum, a strong and lightweight aluminum alloy--more where it's needed for enough strength to resist stresses, and less where it's not. For even more strength, GT welds reinforcing gussets to high-stress areas.
Complementing the frame's lightweight strength and inherent responsiveness is an SR Suntour XCT-28 fork with 100mm of travel and a preload adjust for custom tuning. The Backwoods Comp's 3x9 drivetrain includes a Shimano triple crankset and reliable Shimano derailleurs. Rapid Fire shifters function fast and precisely for clean shifts and Promax Decipher hydraulic disc brakes ensure that you'll never lack for stopping power.
