Mongoose Tyax Expert 27.5" Mountain Bike - 2015
While mountain bikes come in all shapes and sizes today, there's something about the simplicity and grandeur of the hardtail mountain bike. 27.5" mountain bikes are said to be the perfect size for mid-height riders and for good reason. With an improved angle of attack, a 27.5" wheel will roll over faster and easier than a 26-inch wheel. The larger the wheel, the smaller the obstacle relative to the wheel. Sounds easy enough and when you encounter a log or a rock, you quickly learn that this is true. Also, the 27.5" wheel offers improved agility. It's easy to get off the ground and get some air, and it's easier to maneuver through winding and tight singletrack lined with precarious branches. Plus, the 27.5" wheel size yields a lower center of gravity for more stability byway of the relative position of the bottom bracket to the wheel axle. Your body will feel more comfortable and centered as a result.
The Tyax Expert is designed with Mongoose's XC aluminum hardtail frame. An SR Suntour XCR AIR 27.5" fork has a lockout and rebound adjustment for climbing or increasing pedaling efficiency and 100mm of travel. The frame and fork are equipped with strong Hayes Dyno hydraulic disc brakes and a set of massive rotors.
The Tyax Expert has a trail-savvy 27-speed Shimano drivetrain with a Deore rear derailleur. SL-430 9-speed shifters click and push the chain up and down the cassette. 27 speeds means there's a gear for nearly every grade or condition. Finding the perfect gear means you'll stay moving forward and in control.
Stout Alex DP21 27.5" wheels and Kenda Small Block Eight tires offer low friction and solid traction on the road or trail. Finally, Funn handlebars with a 15 degree rise keep your body forward for improved frontend control.
