SRAM Red 22 53/39 Exogram Crankset BB30
When SRAM Red was first introduced, it was the full realization of what the company had begun with their first Force Groups. It introduced Exact Actuation and other new technologies that turned SRAM from an interesting side-note to a full on Pro Peloton-level competitor. SRAM Red has been ridden to Grand Tour and Classic victories all over the globe. Now they've taken it a step further with SRAM 22. The new 11-speed line from SRAM gives you an extra gear (usually the 15T cog on most cassettes) so you have a wider range of gears to choose from, making it easier to climb, fly over rollers, and upshift more smoothly when you're ramping up for a sprint.
The SRAM Red 22 53/39 Exogram crankset takes all the innovative breakthroughs that SRAM has had over the years and condenses them down into the lightest, stiffest crankset they've ever made. It may look like the 10-speed Exogram crankset, but it's been updated with new graphics and new, thinner 11-speed Glide R chainrings to work perfectly with the SRAM Red 22 Yaw front derailleur.
There's some contradictory thinking at work in the Red 22 crankset, the end result is second to none. To make it stiffer, they used less material. To make it lighter, they made it bigger. By utilizing the properties of carbon fiber SRAM crafted a crankset that is hollow through the arms all the way into the spider. This large hollow cross section makes the crank lighter and also maximizes the stiffness, so you get improved power transfer and shave precious grams from your bike's weight.
SRAM also rearranged the bolt patterns to better leverage the characteristics of carbon fiber and make the spider stiffer and lighter. The new Glide R chainrings are some of the stiffest on the market, and have been made thinner to accommodate the new 11-speed chain. They're optimized for use with the Yaw 22 front derailleur to allow you to execute crisper, more accurate shifting.
