Fuji Traverse 1.5 Disc Women's Sport Hybrid - 2017
Some bikes, we put in the "road" box. Other bikes go, obviously, in the "mountain" box. Finally, there are bikes like the Fuji Traverse 1.5, which rolls over our boxes willy-nilly, blasting through jeep roads and sailing across the asphalt, completely oblivious to our attempts to categorize it. With a lightweight aluminum frame, a capable Shimano drivetrain, and just enough suspension to take the sting out of gnarly terrain, the Fuji Traverse 1.5 is ready to go anywhere.
The Traverse's frame shares several qualities with some of Fuji's premium road frames, including its PowerCurve downtube. An oversized aluminum tube, the PowerCurve helps maximize power transfer without the harsh ride associated with most "stiff" bicycles. The aluminum frame is light and durable, with s-bend seatstays smoothing out road vibration and a replaceable derailleur hanger ready to save the day when things go sideways. A suspension fork with 63mm of travel and hydraulic lockout complements this frame nicely, adding a bit of cushion without making the ride feel slow or mushy.
A combination of Shimano's Tourney, Altus, and Acera groupsets make up the Traverse 1.5's drivetrain, providing a blend of performance and value for the savvy consumer. With 48/38/28 chainrings and an 8-speed, 11-32 cassette, the Traverse has the gearing to get riders up and over all but the steepest climbs, and a thoughtfully-placed chainguard helps commuters stay clean on their way to work. Rack and fender mounts add to the Traverse's already considerable utility as a townie or commuter bicycle, and the bike's upright position provides great visibility in city traffic.
The Traverse's braking is handled by Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. Hydraulic disc brakes offer all-weather stopping power and a wide range of modulation, helping you come to a controlled stop in all conditions. A Vero Terra wheelset with 700x38c Vera EOS tires is equally at home in the dirt or on the pavement, with a minimalist tread pattern providing extra grip in loose conditions. With a reliable Oval Concepts finishing package, the Fuji Traverse 1.5 Disc is ready to go wherever and whenever you are. Call it a road bike. Call it a hybrid. Call it an adventure bike. We just call it a good time.
