Garmin Edge 840 GPS Cycling Computer (Black)
After watching dozens of videos and reading even more reviews the Garmin Edge 840 looked like a winner. What would posses someone with a Wahoo Element Roam (first series) to go over to Garmin? The Roam was taking a long time to pair on every ride, to the power meter, Di2, HRM, and Angi. With the Garmin if it doesn't pair instantly you can just tap "pair" and it's DONE right then, no waiting. You can edit some of the screens on the Roam, but the number of screens are limited, as well as the information that's provided. I'm not particularly tech savvy, but am really interested in data. There's not enough space here to tell you what the Edge 840 can give you about what you're doing during your ride. If you DON'T want it, you can edit out that screen. It's all simple and intuitive. SO many helpful YouTube vids from DC Rainmaker, VeloGPS, Sportive Cyclist and many others that will guide one through the easy set-up process. You can do the setup and screen edits on the Edge 840 itself or a paired smartphone through the Garmin Connect app. The only criticisms I have for this compared to the Roam is that the alert beep from the Varia is not as loud, but the highlighted screen is much more noticeable so that's somewhat of an offset. If the 1040 had the button features this 840 has I might have gone with that where my vision is marginal at best. When the sun is directly behind me and I shadow the unit it's a little harder to read the smaller numbers - but I've also crammed a lot of data into some of the screens which I probably should change. I go from screen to screen with the D-fly button on the hood and really don't need so much on one screen and like I said you can create as many as you want.
Sorry for the long post. This is a great piece of technology. Having a blast using it. Recommend for everybody.

Garmin Edge 840 GPS Cycling Computer (Black)
Way overcomplicated. Instruction manual very poorly written. Garmin more interested in the fringes of use than real world daily use in explaining the functions.
Buyer Remorse on this deal.
