Pirelli Scorpion/Cinturato SmartSEAL Tubeless Sealant Description:

The Pirelli Scorpion/Cinturato Tubeless Sealant quickly seals up tire punctures to keep you rolling strong. The formula is specifically designed for gravel and mountain bike tires that use lower air pressures. Being ammonia and later-free means it is much easy on equipment and skin if it comes into contact. Pirelli recommends topping sealant off every 6 months or more frequently if riding in extremely dry climates.

Note: Scorpion and Cinturato sealant are the exact same formula; however, the label on the packaging may vary from size to size.

Features:

  • Formula is ammonia and latex free making it less aggressive to bicycle equipment and your skin
  • Protects against flats and punctures
  • Designed for gravel and mountain bike tires that run lower tire pressure
  • Like most sealants, use with CO2 only for an emergency repair in the field (CO2 speeds up coagulation, Pirelli strongly recommends replacing sealant afterward)
  • Won’t leave a sticky residue in the tire
  • Compatible with a wide range of temperatures (-4°F - 158°F)

Pirelli Scorpion/Cinturato SmartSEAL Tubeless Sealant (32oz)
There's a few things to like about this sealant, and one thing to really despise.
I used it for road application as it says right on the bottle it's a "possible use". Aren't they all? Anyway, I've had a couple of really small goathead punctures that were sealed right away with this sealant. There was an issue with a cracked rim I had and during the diagnosis period I changed the tape and tires three times. It was much easier with this stuff than with others such as Silca's Ultimate to clean off the tires and rim to reinstall everything. There has way less sticky residue to peel or scrape off to get a clean seal. And if you have the right valve (Mac-Off in this case) and the Park Tool injector, it's easy to pull this stuff out of the tire prior to dismounting it. Which leads to the rather despicable feature of this stuff - it stains everything bright yellow. It'll get into your rotors, cassette, spokes and everything else in line if there's some left in the valve when you check your pressure. Or comes out when you get a little puncture. And if you get it on your clothes it won't wash out. It's still in my jeans two months later. But my tires haven't lost any pressure to speak of on six sets of wheels. It wipes off the components with regular surface wipes, but it stays in fabric. Use with caution.
