WTB Slick Comp Tire (26 x 1.5") (Wire Bead)
For many years this WTB Slick was my go-to tire for my mountain bike -- used mostly for city riding -- and I was very happy. Three years ago I purchased three of these tires from Performance while in the US before returning to my home in Bangkok. A bike shop installed the tires for me, but after a few months of riding on the streets of Bangkok (which aren't that bad, really), the tires fell completely apart, separating along where the tread was. I put on two tires of a different brand, and they lasted for two years, no issues. Last August I purchased one more of these WTB Slicks from Performance, and put this on my bike along with the third tire purchased three years ago, which was still unused. After two months the older tire again fell apart along the treads, whereas the newer one is perfectly fine so far. I replaced the bad tire with another brand, and that is working well. So I must conclude the three tires purchased three years ago were defective -- something was very wrong with that batch. I am not sure if I will purchase WTB Slicks again after this bad experience.
