This update to the groundbreaking Firecrest rim shape for unstoppable performance with the new and improved durable and versatile 77/177D hubset for a wheelset that's ready to help you perform at your very best.</p> <p> The Zipp 808 Firecrest is the fastest, deep-section carbon clincher in the world. It not only performs in time trails and triathlons, it's light weight, responsiveness and solid handling are ideally suited for hilly bike legs, criteriums, field sprints and long days off the front of the peloton. The Firecrest Aero rim shape improves stability by moving the wheel's center of pressure to sit almost directly over the steering axis, where wind-induced steering torque has a minimal effect. Its 82mm rim profile with 27.5mm max rim width accounts for the differences in airflow patterns between clincher and tubular tires, equaling or exceeding the aero performance of any 90mm deep rim on the market, as well as many discs. The Firecrest platform also increases lateral stiffness for sprinting and cornering, while offering greater vertical compliance for more control, comfort and durability on rough surfaces. Zipp's exclusive resin improves heat dissipation, and when combined with their Platinum Pro EVO brake pads, provides unmatched braking power, even on harrowing descents. < p> <p>The 77/177 hubset brings improved stiffness and durability over the hubset found on the previous generation of hubs, with wider flanges and a bigger axle. There's also no longer a need to set a bearing preload, and the bearings are also better protected from the elements, which means less wear and maintenance. A new improved quick release skewer also improves wheels retention and a more ergonomic lever for easier use.</p>
