Castelli Squadra Stretch Vest Description:

With Squadra Stretch, Castelli completely re-engineered their entry-level vest. A new coated ripstop fabric keeps the wind off the front and spray off the back, while the tightly knit side panels allow the vest to stretch to fit a wide range of shapes while keeping a close-to-body fit that eliminates fabric flapping in the wind. The collar is cut high and the back long for extra protection and the color blocking of the stretch panels and the reflective details on the chest and tail give it an elegant design touch.

Castelli Squadra Stretch Vest (Electric Lime/Dark Grey) (XL)
This is a vest made of good quality materials, and it fits well, that is, it is not baggy and has some stretch material on the sides to make it fit closely but not tight. That is all fine. But it has a flaw that makes me wish I could talk to the designers. It flaps in the wind. Specifically, the rear of the arm holes catch the wind and it flaps and makes a noise like the old cards-in-the-spokes trick to make your kids bike sound like it has a motor. Really. It flaps very fast and very loud right in the ears. It is extremely annoying. I wanted a vest that does not flap in the wind. This is not the one. The only way it does not flap is if you open the zipper most of the way so wind can blow through the vest and out the arm holes. Of course that negates the vest altogether. I cannot recommend it for that reason. I would give it a 4 if it did have the flapping defect.

One other thing - the back of the vest is made of rain-resistant material, so it collects sweat. Maybe that is ok if you expect rain, but if I wear a vest I am no usually expecting rain, so mesh would be better.

Castelli Sizing: Many Castelli products are designed with a European race-fit. It is not uncommon to size up one size for a standard, race fit or two sizes for a more relaxed fit.

Measurement Guide:

  1. Chest: Measure the circumference around the fullest part of chest, under arms
  2. Waist: Measure circumference around natural waistline keeping the tape a bit loose

Note: All measurements are provided by the manufacturer and may vary depending on how measurements are acquired. Castelli instructs that for best results measurements be taken over underwear. Castelli recommends sizing up if measurements fall between sizes for a better fit.
