We all love to stop and smell the roses, but like they say, every rose has its thorn. And as we all know, there's no better way to ruin a beautiful ride than with a thorn in the tube. No need to worry, though, because Specialized designed the Thorn-Resistant Tubes to combat pesky pricks of all shapes and sizes. Starting at the basis of the construction, they are designed to be thicker at the outer side (the part against the tire) in order to stop pesky bits from puncturing all the way through the tube. Then, at the inner side (the part against the rim), it's actually thinner in order to reduce weight. This way, you don't have to sacrifice performance in the name of protection.

Tubes are very rugged and no doubt would deter a thorn as well as most any sharp penetrating object. The challenge with these tubes though are they are very heavy and bulky. The tube alone weighs as much as a standard tube and tire together. Installing on one wheel would definitely affect handling. Installing on two would add substantial weight. Tube is also very bulky and will not fit in a saddle bag or fold neatly into a kit pocket. Recommend adding the Weight Spec to the description and modifying the description to emphasize heavy duty use.
